Equipment Supply & Installation
Located in the Central Flint Hills region of northeastern Kansas, Fort Riley is home to both the soldiers and their families of the 1st Infantry Division. Currently, there are approximately 15,000 active duty service members assigned to Fort Riley at any given time. Adding to this number are more than 18,000 family members, 29,000 veterans and retirees, and more than 5,600 civilian employees that live and work at the post.
After being awarded the contract in July 2020, Eric Thornton, Boelter’s VP of Government Sales, and Lisa Botello, Government Account Manager with Boelter, were honored to work with the staff and soldiers of Fort Riley to design and develop a more efficiently run foodservice operation.
The goal of the project involved a review of Fort Riley’s existing kitchen and dining room and to provide a number of equipment enhancements, upgrades and remodeling services. The project would focus on kitchen efficiencies, as well as creating a better overall atmosphere for the large number of service members that use the facilities on a regular basis.
Leaning on their vast knowledge of kitchen equipment, design experience and project management, Eric and Lisa provided a turn-key installation that delivered a robust solution of new cooking equipment and high-end serving lines:
- Walk-Ins (Freezer / Refrigerator Combo)
- Convection Ovens
- Griddles
- Combi-Ovens
- Pass-Thru(s)
- Ice Machines
- Dish Machine
- Dining Furniture
Working with manufacturing to coordinate delivery and scheduling during COVID-19’s health restrictions resulted in a variety of challenges, including delivery adjustments, factory back-ups and problematic installation scheduling with remote installers. Through it all, Eric Thornton relied on his years of industry experience to keep the project on task for completion.
